Good Sammy Unveils Multimillion-Dollar Headquarters in Canning Vale

A significant multimillion-dollar upgrade to Good Sammy's headquarters in Canning Vale has officially opened, marking a major milestone for the organization. This redesign is set to significantly expand employment and training opportunities for West Australians with disabilities at the long-established site.

Modern and Accessible Facility Features

The newly upgraded facility boasts a range of modern amenities, including a contemporary reception area, a spacious canteen, recreation and break zones, dedicated training rooms, and a commercial-grade kitchen. Each space has been meticulously designed to foster an accessible and inclusive environment.

Key accessibility features include braille wayfinding signage, height-adjustable tables and desks, inclusive toilets, and walkways with varied textures and patterns to support diverse sensory needs. This thoughtful design aims to enhance the daily experience for over 700 staff, customers, and students who will benefit from the upgrade.

Leadership and Vision for Disability Employment

Good Sammy CEO Kane Blackman emphasized the organization's vision to transform workplaces and society through disability employment. "It is important that we start with our own workplace and ensure it is accessible, contemporary and reflective of our vision," he stated. "This project has positively impacted on the wellbeing, accessibility and pride of our employees working at our Canning Vale head office."

Blackman added that the building project represents an investment in Good Sammy's future, enabling it to continue its impactful work for West Australians with disabilities.

Government Support and Community Impact

The upgrade received substantial financial backing, including a $2.9 million grant from Lotterywest and $300,000 from the State Government. Premier Roger Cook praised the revitalized headquarters, noting, "Good Sammy's revitalised headquarters is a welcoming, accessible environment that gives Western Australians with disability the practical skills, work experience and sense of belonging needed to grow their confidence and independence."

Disability Services Minister Hannah Beazley highlighted the importance of providing training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. "Good Sammy is doing incredible work as a supported employment provider and is empowering people with disability to contribute to their communities," she said.

This development underscores Good Sammy's commitment to fostering inclusivity and supporting the growth and independence of individuals with disabilities in Western Australia.
