Police officers took eight minutes to reach Henry Nowak after he was stabbed, according to a report released today. The delay has sparked debate about emergency response protocols.
Incident Details
The stabbing occurred in a residential area of London on the evening of June 23. Henry Nowak, 34, was attacked outside his home. Officers were dispatched immediately but arrived eight minutes later.
Nowak was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A suspect has been arrested.
Response Time Scrutiny
The Metropolitan Police stated that the response time was within the target for priority calls. However, victim advocates argue that every second counts in such situations.
"The delay is concerning," said a spokesperson for the charity Victim Support. "We urge a review of response times for violent crimes."
Official Statements
Chief Inspector Sarah Jones said, "Our officers acted promptly. The eight-minute response is standard for this category of call."
The police have launched an investigation into the attack and are appealing for witnesses.
