Third Person Charged in Hamilton E-Bike Armed Robbery

A third person has been charged in connection with an armed robbery at the Sydney Junction Hotel on Beaumont Street in September. Terrence Richard Hardy, 35, was arrested on Tuesday, November 4, during a vehicle stop in Belmont.

Police allege that Hardy tampered with a door at the hotel before the robbery and later returned riding the e-bike used in the incident. The robbery occurred just after 3:30am on Friday, September 12, when a man threatened staff with a firearm and fled with cash on the back of an e-bike. No injuries were reported.

Hardy faces charges of special aggravated break-and-enter and commit a serious indictable offence, as well as driving a motor vehicle during a disqualification period. He was refused bail in court on November 5 and is due to reappear on January 14, 2026. He was also refused bail on several unrelated charges.

Two other individuals, a man and a woman, were charged in September in relation to the same incident and remain before the courts. The investigation, known as Strike Force Mesport, involved the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad.

During the investigation, police executed a search warrant at a storage unit in Newcastle West on September 24, seizing a bag containing $30,020 in cash. A subsequent search of a home on James Street in Hamilton led to the seizure of an e-scooter and a helmet.
