Seven-Hour Siege Ends in Waratah West After Police Welfare Check

A 30-year-old man has been arrested following a seven-hour siege in Waratah West, which began as a welfare check on Thursday night. Police were called to a home on Angus Avenue at about 11.30pm on October 30 after receiving a concern for welfare report.

Upon arrival, officers were unable to gain entry as the man barricaded himself inside. There were initial concerns that the individual was armed with a firearm, though police have yet to confirm whether a weapon was present.

The Tactical Operations Group was deployed to assist, and after negotiations, police entered the property at about 7.20am on Friday. The man was arrested without incident.
