Hunter Sports High Year 12 Formal Celebrates Students

About 80 students from Hunter Sports High School dressed in glamorous gowns and sharp suits gathered at Newcastle's Civic Park for photos on Wednesday afternoon before heading to Merewether Surfhouse for their Year 12 formal.

Year advisor Kellie Rose said the planning had gone smoothly and the students were excited for the event. 'They're really pumped, the girls have got their makeup and nails done, made sure their dress colours aren't clashing with anyone else,' she said.

Ms Rose, who has been with the cohort since their first day of Year 7, expressed pride in their growth. 'I'm just really proud of them and I want them to go and have a good time tonight,' she said.

Instead of a formal king and queen, the school planned to give out 'silly awards' for categories such as most likely to be a millionaire or TikTok famous, based on student votes.
