A devastating collision on the Princes Highway in southern New South Wales has claimed the lives of two people and left another with serious injuries. The tragic incident occurred at Falls Creek, approximately 12 kilometres south of Nowra, when a truck and a car collided under still-unclear circumstances.
Emergency Response and Fatalities
Emergency services rushed to the scene around 8am on Wednesday to find wreckage blocking the highway. The driver and passenger of the car were pronounced dead at the scene. Formal identification is yet to be completed, and authorities are working to notify next of kin.
The truck driver was trapped inside his vehicle and required extrication by emergency crews. He was subsequently airlifted to hospital in a serious condition, where he remains under medical care.
Investigation and Road Closures
Police have established a crime scene and are conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash. The Princes Highway remains closed in both directions between Falls Creek and Nowra, with diversions in place. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
