Baby Returned Unharmed

The vehicle returned approximately two minutes later. Police say the alleged offenders removed the baby, still strapped into the car seat, and placed the child on the kerb before driving off again.

To Sarah's relief, her child was unharmed. Police confirmed no one was physically injured, and the baby was assessed by paramedics as a precaution. The offenders also handed back Sarah's phone.

A Mother's Ordeal

Sarah described the two-minute nightmare as feeling like a lifetime. "My soul left my body. It was the most terrifying thing that has probably ever happened in my life, that I'll probably ever experience," she told 7NEWS.

She decided to speak publicly in the hope that more will be done to address ongoing crime issues affecting Townsville.
