Missing Adelaide Man Found Dead in SA Forest

Police have confirmed the discovery of human remains in South Australia's Mount Crawford Forest belong to Michael Curnow, a 23-year-old Adelaide man who vanished in April 2025.

Tip-off Leads to Discovery

On Tuesday, police received a report of a mountain bike and helmet dumped in bushland at Mount Crawford Forest, near Chain of Ponds, approximately 30 kilometres from Adelaide. Detectives from the Missing Person Investigation Section and Major Crime searched the area and located the remains, later identified as Curnow.

Timeline of Disappearance

Curnow was last seen at Hillcrest around 9am on April 24, 2025. His black Hyundai station wagon was found in the early hours of Anzac Day on South Para Road at Chain of Ponds, triggering extensive searches across forest tracks and rural roads, which initially yielded no results.

Dashcam footage captured a man matching Curnow's description walking along Forreston Road near Kersbrook about 10.30am the same morning, but no further sightings were confirmed.

Investigation Outcome

Police have stated there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
