Authorities in the United States and the Bahamas are intensifying efforts to solve the mysterious disappearance of American woman Lynette Hooker, who vanished from a dinghy in the Bahamas last month. The 54-year-old was on holiday with her husband, Brian Hooker, when she disappeared after a night out in the Sea of Abaco.

The sailboat Soulmate, where the couple lived and traveled, has been docked in Fort Pierce, Florida, after being seized by the US Coast Guard as it left the Bahamas. Officials later relocated the vessel to a port in Fort Lauderdale for further investigation. A US official familiar with the case confirmed to Fox News Digital that the boat will be moved to a warehouse where forensic teams will comb it for evidence.

“Any sort of digital devices that you can take, any computer systems that you can extract, anything of that sort, will be taken in,” said Nicole Parker, a former FBI special agent and Fox News contributor. On Thursday, Fox News Digital reported that the Bahamian government has authorized a US dive team to search a new area in the Sea of Abaco for Lynette’s body or additional clues.

International Jurisdiction

Brian Hooker, who has been married to Lynette for about 25 years, was initially detained by Bahamian authorities but later released. He has not been charged with any crime. Parker explained why US authorities are involved: “The suspect is Brian, and he’s a US citizen. The victim is Lynette. She’s a US citizen. The vessel in which they were on, when the incident occurred, is a US vessel, and it’s flagged in the United States. That gives the United States jurisdiction.”

Parker noted that many people mistakenly believe they can evade justice in international waters. “It’s a team effort, and many times people go on these trips, and they think, ‘Oh nothing’s going to happen, I’m in a foreign country,’ and they are wrong,” she added. The US Coast Guard had previously asked the public for help identifying a sailboat linked to the disappearance.

Investigation Continues

Brian Hooker’s lawyer could not be reached for comment despite multiple attempts. The case remains under active investigation by both US and Bahamian authorities, with federal agencies collaborating to ensure accountability. As the dive team prepares to search the waters, Lynette’s family awaits answers in the baffling case.
