A giant mural of US singer Jelly Roll has been painted in a Townsville laneway, celebrating the artist's largest Australian stadium concert in the city tonight.
Artists Lavinia Letheby and Amanda Sadler worked through three nights from Halloween to create the artwork. Letheby previously painted a mural of pop singer P!nk for her 2024 concert in Townsville.
Small businesses are joining the festivities, with local bakeries selling jelly rolls and other themed sweets. Tattoo artist Alex Aguilera has created Jelly Roll-themed designs and says she has already tattooed at least 50 people.
Stadium venue manager Cameron Jones said ticket sales are strong, trending towards at least 20,000 attendees. The concert will feature other country artists including Shaboozey.
Jones noted that a 48-metre stage has been brought from the south, and the venue is being dressed in an unprecedented way. He urged concertgoers to stay hydrated as 33-degree heat is expected.
