Telstra Triple Zero Calls Hit by Secondary Issue After Outage
Telstra Triple Zero Calls Hit by Secondary Issue After Outage

Telstra has confirmed a secondary issue is affecting some calls, including triple zero emergency calls, following yesterday's widespread national mobile outage. The company said late last night that when some customers dial triple zero, they receive an error message, prompting the phone to attempt connecting to an alternative network.

Telstra's Advice to Customers

Telstra advised customers to wait for the phone to connect to another network or use a different phone to make the call. The company is working urgently to resolve the issue.

Welfare Checks and CEO Comments

Telstra conducted over 300 welfare checks on people who attempted to dial triple zero during the initial outage. Chief executive Michael Ackland noted that the number of calls appeared higher than normal, suggesting some customers may have been dialling triple zero just to check if it worked during the outage.
