Perth social media influencer Taleigha Skye has apologised after facing backlash for leaving her six-month-old son alone in a locked hotel room during a Bali holiday. The 24-year-old mother of two explained in a now-deleted TikTok video that she went to a nearby wellness centre for a 30-minute foot massage while her husband and older son were quad-biking.
Skye said she used a baby monitor to keep an eye on her baby and locked the hotel door before leaving. However, critics compared the situation to the 2007 disappearance of Madeleine McCann, who vanished from a hotel room in Portugal while her parents dined nearby. Many expressed outrage on social media, questioning the safety of leaving a baby alone in a foreign country.
After deleting the video, Skye issued a public apology on Instagram, acknowledging she made a “poor decision” and took full responsibility. She stated that while she was only metres away and had constant monitoring, she recognised it did not make the situation safe. She added that their nanny was unavailable that day and assured followers it would never happen again.
Skye, who has nearly 75,000 TikTok followers, regularly shares content about being a “boy mum” to her four-year-old and six-month-old sons.
