Canterbury Racing Preview: Graffiti Tycoon Tipped to Shine on Wednesday

Trainer Tom Charlton is brimming with confidence ahead of promising three-year-old Graffiti Tycoon's second career start at Canterbury on Wednesday. The gelding, who showed significant potential on debut earlier this month, is expected to benefit from both experience and a favorable barrier draw in the TAB Plate over 1250 metres.

Learning from Experience

Charlton explained that Graffiti Tycoon's debut at Warwick Farm was intentionally conservative, allowing the young horse to find his rhythm and gain valuable racing education. Despite being run down by Mr Miller after making a midrace move, the performance left the trainer highly encouraged.

"He's a very talented horse but still raw and immature," Charlton noted. "While he didn't execute perfectly, the overall effort was promising. We're confident he's taken steps forward since that race."

The trainer emphasized that with more racing experience, Graffiti Tycoon will develop into a more complete and confident competitor.

Barrier Advantage

Drawing barrier one provides a significant tactical advantage according to Charlton. This positioning should allow jockey Zac Lloyd to establish a comfortable rhythm early without needing to settle too far back in the field.

"The softer gate helps us come out neutral and get him into a good rhythm," Charlton elaborated. "He possesses a high cruising speed with a big action, and there's every reason to expect a strong performance."

Despite the optimism, Charlton indicated that Graffiti Tycoon will likely remain in "shallow waters" for this preparation, focusing on continued development rather than being thrown into more challenging races immediately.
