WAFL 2026: Brayshaw returns, Stephens injured again

East Perth have received a major boost with the return of Sandover medallist Hamish Brayshaw, while midfielder Cooper Stephens has been sidelined once again due to injury.

Brayshaw back in the blue and black

Hamish Brayshaw, who claimed the prestigious Sandover Medal in 2024, will line up for the Royals in the upcoming WAFL season. The 26-year-old has been training strongly and is expected to slot straight into the midfield. His return adds significant depth and experience to an East Perth side aiming for a finals push.

Stephens' injury woes continue

In contrast, Cooper Stephens faces another frustrating period on the sidelines. The former Geelong and Hawthorn AFL player has been plagued by injuries since returning to the WAFL. Scans confirmed a soft tissue injury that will rule him out for several weeks. East Perth medical staff are taking a cautious approach to ensure a full recovery.
