Security personnel had to step in after a fan attempted to steal a commemorative football during a Collingwood training session.
Attempted Theft of Commemorative Ball
The fan is accused of trying to pinch a special Scott Pendlebury Sherrin football before a fellow Collingwood supporter intervened. The incident occurred as players were training with the balls, which the club had no intention of giving away for free.
Pendlebury Notices the Special Ball
The penny dropped for Pendlebury when he noticed that the ball he had been asked to sign was one of only 30 specially branded Sherrins emblazoned with the number 433. The club quickly realised the value of the historic memorabilia.
Citizen's Arrest and Security Intervention
Another fan then executed a citizen's arrest, taking the alleged thief to the ground. A security guard subsequently secured the safe return of the commemorative ball. The fan involved in the attempted theft was let go without further action.
