Rozee ruled out for AFL season

Port Adelaide captain Connor Rozee will miss the remainder of the AFL season as he continues to struggle with hamstring issues. The 26-year-old has been sidelined since tearing the tendon in his left hamstring during a match on March 22.

Ongoing Nerve Complications

Despite hopes of returning to action, Rozee is experiencing persistent nerve problems related to the initial injury. Port Adelaide's fitness boss, Tim O'Leary, revealed that Rozee's recovery has "plateaued" in recent weeks, making a return this season impossible.

Non-Surgical Approach

Rozee will not undergo further surgery at this stage. Instead, he received an injection on Tuesday aimed at breaking down scar tissue around the affected nerve. O'Leary explained the decision: "After seeking multiple specialist opinions, we decided on a non-surgical approach at this stage for Connor. The hamstring repair has healed really well. However, the complication with the initial nerve injury has made it increasingly difficult for Connor's rehab to progress further."

Optimism for Pre-Season

O'Leary expressed optimism that the injection will help get Rozee's rehabilitation back on track in time for the start of the next pre-season in October or November. "We are incredibly disappointed for Connor and know how much he wishes he could be out on the field with his teammates again this year," O'Leary said. "But we know he will keep attacking his rehab with the same relentless intensity that he has from day one, and will continue to be the same outstanding leader within the club during his time in rehab."
