Manly vice-captain Jake Trbojevic has triggered his contract option, ensuring he will remain with the NRL club until the end of the 2027 season. The 32-year-old middle forward had until round 10 to decide on a one-year extension, but the club granted him additional time to make his choice.
Trbojevic, who celebrated his 250th game for the Sea Eagles in round 10, has seen a resurgence in form under interim coach Kieran Foran. Since Foran replaced Anthony Seibold after three games, Manly has won six of seven matches, climbing to fourth on the ladder.
Currently captaining the side in the absence of his injured brother Tom, Trbojevic expressed his commitment to the club. 'I'm loving my footy, and I love this club,' he said in a statement. 'The past few weeks have been really enjoyable and our turnaround in form has been great for the whole club.'
If Trbojevic plays every regular-season game through 2027, he will become the third most-capped Manly player in history, behind only Daly Cherry-Evans and Cliff Lyons. Foran praised Trbojevic as a 'once in a lifetime defender' and said he embodies everything good about the club.
