Jockey Bailey Rogerson in Induced Coma After Race Fall

Jockey Bailey Rogerson, 24, is fighting for her life in a New Zealand hospital after a horrific fall during a race at Arawa Park. The incident occurred in the sixth race when her horse Mandolo was involved in a dangerous move by another rider.

Rogerson suffered a fractured skull and was placed in an induced coma due to fears of a brain bleed. Doctors are also checking for additional broken bones, including a possible fracture in her neck. Her mother, Michelle Northcott, has been at her bedside.

Her grandfather, Graeme Rogerson, a Melbourne Cup-winning trainer, said the family is very worried but noted Bailey is tough. He stated that doctors plan to bring her out of the coma on Monday to assess her condition further.

French jockey Corentin Berge has been suspended for one month by stewards for causing the fall by dangerously moving out and checking Rogerson's horse. Earlier that day, Rogerson had ridden her 58th career winner on Burnished in the Waitomo Fuels 1400m.
