Brook and Salt Lead England to T20 Series Win Over India

Harry Brook smashed 81 off 47 balls and Phil Salt added a blistering 73 from 44 deliveries as England chased down India's 188 with seven wickets and 11 balls to spare in the fifth T20 International at Old Trafford, clinching the series 3-2.

England's Dominant Chase

India posted 188 for 5 after being sent in, with Rohit Sharma top-scoring with 52 off 32. However, England's openers Salt and Brook put on 135 for the second wicket to take the game away from the visitors. Salt fell in the 17th over, but Brook carried on to seal the win with a six over long-on.

Series Decider

The victory gave England their first T20 series win over India since 2018. Captain Jos Buttler praised his team's performance: "That was a complete performance. The way Brook and Salt went about the chase was exceptional. We knew we had to be positive, and they executed perfectly."

India's Innings

Earlier, India's innings was built around Rohit's half-century and a quickfire 41 from Suryakumar Yadav. But England's bowlers, led by Chris Jordan's 2 for 32, kept the scoring in check during the middle overs.

The series win is a major boost for England ahead of the T20 World Cup next year. India, meanwhile, will rue missed opportunities in the field, having dropped both Brook and Salt early in their innings.
