Surrey secured a comprehensive innings victory over Hampshire on the fourth and final day of their County Championship match at the Kia Oval. Resuming on 69 for 3, Hampshire were bowled out for 187 in their second innings, giving Surrey a win by an innings and 49 runs.
Dominant Bowling Performance
The home side's bowlers were relentless on the final morning. Kemar Roach struck early, removing opener Tom Prest for 12. Jordan Clark then took centre stage, claiming three wickets in quick succession to leave Hampshire reeling at 89 for 6. Clark finished with figures of 4 for 38, while Dan Worrall chipped in with 2 for 41.
Captain James Vince offered some resistance, scoring a fighting 68 off 102 balls, but his dismissal, caught behind off Clark, effectively ended Hampshire's hopes. The tail offered little, and the match was wrapped up before lunch, with Roach taking the final wicket.
Surrey's First Innings Dominance
Surrey had earlier posted a formidable 436 in their first innings, built around a superb 142 from Ollie Pope and 89 from Ben Foakes. Hampshire could only manage 249 in reply, conceding a lead of 187.
The victory maintains Surrey's strong start to the County Championship season, while Hampshire will look to regroup after a disappointing display.
