Australia captain Alyssa Healy has announced she will retire from all forms of cricket following the upcoming multi-format series against India in February and March. The 35-year-old wicketkeeper-batter cited a loss of competitive edge as the reason for her decision.
Healy, who made her international debut in 2010, will finish her career as the second-most-capped Australian woman in T20Is, behind Ellyse Perry. She has played 162 T20Is, 126 ODIs, and 11 Tests, and is set to end with 299 international matches barring injury.
The series includes three T20Is in Sydney, Canberra, and Adelaide; three ODIs in Brisbane, Hobart, and Hobart; and a Test at the WACA in Perth. Healy will miss the T20I matches, meaning she will not participate in the T20 World Cup later this year.
Healy holds the record for most dismissals in women's T20Is and is fourth on the ODI list with 119 dismissals. Her career highlights include a stunning 170 in the 2022 ODI World Cup final and a player-of-the-match performance in the 2020 T20 World Cup final at the MCG.
Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg praised Healy as one of the all-time greats, saying her contribution on and off the field has inspired many. Healy is expected to move into broadcasting and continues to co-host the Willow Talk podcast.
