Arthur Fery's Mental Fortitude Shines at Wimbledon
The difference between sportsfolk who make it and those who don't is often not talent but mentality. Arthur Fery exemplifies this, having won his first four matches from behind, including two fifth-set deciders and match tiebreakers. In the quarter-finals, he calmly dismantled Flavio Cobolli, who had just gone five sets in the French Open final, showing no signs of nerves.
Fery's Unique Backhand Could Trouble Zverev
Fery's backhand is a sensational shot, taken so early it's almost prehumous, and he can use it to rush Alexander Zverev. Zverev, the Roland-Garros champion, looked ominous in defeating Taylor Fritz but still has weaknesses in his forehand and volleying. Though now a grand slam winner, he is not entirely comfortable on grass, and his equilibrium under pressure remains unrenowned.
Djokovic vs Sinner: A Classic Match-Up
Following them on to court, Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic offer a classic clash of great and greatest. Sinner, last year's champion, has looked vulnerable since then, losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the US Open final, Djokovic in the Australian semi, and Juan Manuel Cerúndolo from two sets and 5-1 up in Paris. Djokovic, a doubt bloodhound and fear vampire, is the greatest matchplayer in history and knows he may never have a better chance to make it 25 grand slams. However, the question remains whether his body will comply.
Play begins at 1.30pm BST.
