Thousands Flock to Canberra Times Fun Run Under Clear Skies

More than 4000 participants gathered by Lake Burley-Griffin on Sunday for the 43rd Canberra Times fun run, powered by Salesforce. A light frost gave way to a cloudless morning as runners took part in the event.

Volunteers prepared about 5000 recyclable cups at the finish line for the 10km run. Participants included a Spiderman, runners in homemade fairy outfits, and several people pushing relatives or friends in wheelchairs.

A new Paw Parade saw about 100 people bring their dogs for a 5km jog. The first-ever 1km race was won by Joe Whithear from Bruce. Among the youngest runners was four-year-old Will Salter, who ran alongside his 63-year-old grandmother Janet Norton-Knight.
