West Coast Eagles coach Andrew McQualter has declared there is no ceiling on young star Harley Reid, who produced a career-best performance in the Eagles' 13.10 (88) to 10.11 (71) victory over Greater Western Sydney. Reid amassed 34 disposals, 10 clearances, 10 score involvements, 786 metres gained, 12 inside 50s, eight tackles and two goals, dominating the Giants' midfield.
McQualter praised Reid's emotional investment and impact on the game, but warned the 49-game player still has significant room for improvement. 'The sky is the limit for this young man. He was exceptional tonight. He's still at the very start of his career and he's got a long way to go still,' McQualter said.
The coach also highlighted the tagging roles of Milan Murdock and Brady Hough, who curtailed the influence of Lachie Whitfield and Finn Callaghan. Murdock was described as 'like a dog with a bone' on Whitfield, while Hough continued his strong form from the previous week.
McQualter was impressed by the team's pressure after quarter-time, which he called 'extraordinary'. He noted the Eagles restricted the Giants' marks and run-and-carry game, with a focus on defending against the league's best back-half ball movement team.
