The ACT Government has finalised its decision on the future of several sportsgrounds in Canberra, with some set to close while others will receive upgrades. Grounds to Close
Under the plan, a number of sportsgrounds will be decommissioned, including the Ainslie Football Club's home ground and the Kaleen playing fields. Upgrades and New Facilities
In contrast, several grounds will receive significant investment. The government has allocated $10 million for upgrades to the Phillip Oval and the Hawker playing fields, which will include new lighting, irrigation, and change rooms. Additionally, a new multi-purpose sports complex is planned for the growing Gungahlin region, with construction expected to begin next year.
