A 29-year-old Sydney man has been extradited to the Australian Capital Territory, facing allegations he sexually assaulted and raped his partner on two separate occasions in late 2025.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday, July 3, where his application for bail was not opposed by prosecutors. He is yet to enter pleas to charges of sexual intercourse without consent, committing an act of indecency without consent, and property damage. The charges have been classified as family violence offences.
Alleged crimes and arrest
Police allege that during October and November 2025, the man sexually assaulted his partner on two occasions and also destroyed property belonging to the woman. The alleged crimes were reported to authorities, prompting an investigation. Following inquiries, officers arrested the man on Thursday at a residence in Sydney. He was subsequently extradited to the ACT to face court.
Bail conditions and court orders
During the court hearing, the man was granted bail with strict conditions. These include that he must reside in New South Wales and is prohibited from entering the ACT unless for legal appointments or to attend court. He has also been ordered not to contact the alleged victim or come within 100 metres of her. The case is scheduled to return to court later this month for further proceedings.
