A 37-year-old Canberra woman has been charged with attempted murder following a violent alleged stabbing in the inner-city suburb of Braddon.
Alleged early morning attack in Braddon unit
Olivia Kajkic faced the ACT Magistrates Court remotely from a hospital bed on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. She is accused of attempting to murder a man known to her.
According to police allegations, the incident occurred around 3:30am on Monday, January 5, at a home on Lowanna Street in Braddon. It is alleged Kajkic took a steak knife from her kitchen and stabbed the man multiple times.
Victim found bleeding heavily, woman arrested
Police were called and arrived at the unit complex shortly after the alleged attack. Officers discovered the male victim outside the property, suffering from heavy bleeding.
First aid was rendered at the scene until paramedics arrived. The injured man was subsequently transported to hospital for treatment.
The 37-year-old accused was located inside the unit and placed under arrest. Kajkic initially faced court on Tuesday, January 6, also from a hospital bed, where the court heard she was undergoing alcohol detoxification.
Court orders mental health evaluation, woman remanded
Following her first appearance, the court ordered a mental health evaluation to determine if Kajkic required immediate treatment or care. She returned to court the following day, Wednesday, January 7.
After the brief hearing, Magistrate remanded Kajkic in custody. The case has been adjourned and is scheduled to return to court at a later date. It is not yet known if she has entered a plea to the single charge of attempted murder.
