Tasmanian couple dead in suspected murder-suicide

A married couple has been discovered deceased in a suspected murder-suicide incident in the quiet Tasmanian town of Campania, located north of Hobart. The man and woman, both aged in their 60s, were found at their property on Native Corners Road around 10am on Friday.

Police Respond to Disturbing Scene

According to authorities, a close family member alerted emergency services after reportedly receiving death threats from the man. Detective Inspector David Gill described the crime scene as extremely confronting for first responders, stating that the images they encountered would stay with them. He refrained from providing extensive details out of respect for the family and due to the nature of the investigation.

Initial Findings Point to Family Violence

Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman sustained severe injuries, while the man ended his own life. Gill confirmed that the incident is being treated as a family violence case and a murder-suicide. He emphasised that the event was contained to the home and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
