Three Men Face Charges Following Intense Police Pursuit in Western Sydney

Three men have been formally charged after a dramatic police chase culminated in the discovery of an alleged "kill car" in Western Sydney, with authorities linking the vehicle to a series of violent incidents across the region.

Chase Initiated After Stolen Audi Fails to Stop

The incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon when officers attempted to pull over a stolen Audi on the Great Western Highway at Wentworthville around 2:25 pm. When the driver refused to stop, a high-speed pursuit was launched, spanning multiple suburbs and creating a significant police response.

During the chase, police allege that the occupants threw jerry cans from the moving vehicle onto the M4 Motorway near Silverwater, posing a danger to other motorists and escalating the situation.

Arrests Made After Foot Chase with Police Assistance

The pursuit came to a dramatic conclusion on Hill Road in Lidcombe, where officers from the Raptor Squad used tactical maneuvers to ram the Audi, forcing it to a halt. All three men then fled the scene on foot, leading to an extensive search operation.

With the assistance of PolAir and the Dog Squad, police successfully tracked down and arrested the trio after a brief foot chase. The men, aged 28 and two aged 24, were not injured during the arrests, according to official reports.

Vehicle Linked to Multiple Crimes Across Southwest Sydney

Police revealed that the Audi had been stolen from a home in Edmondson Park last month and was described as a "kill car," a term often used for vehicles involved in serious criminal activities. A thorough search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a semi-automatic rifle, a pistol, and cloned number plates, all of which have been seized for forensic examination.

Investigators allege that the car is connected to a series of shootings and firebombings in southwest Sydney over recent weeks. This includes three incidents in Panania, where shots were fired at a home and a firebombing targeted the wrong property, as well as two more incidents in St Johns Park and Colyton.

Charges and Court Proceedings

All three men have been charged with multiple firearm and weapons offences, including possessing an unregistered prohibited firearm, possessing an unauthorised pistol in a public place, possessing ammunition without a licence, and participating in a criminal group.

The 28-year-old driver faces additional charges for driving a stolen vehicle, police pursuit, reckless driving, and had two outstanding warrants executed for assault and domestic violence offences. The two 24-year-olds were also charged with being carried in a stolen vehicle.

All three individuals have been refused bail and are scheduled to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday, as the investigation continues to unfold.
