Police have conducted a search of the Burleigh Heads apartment belonging to Dr Vahid Reza Adib, a prominent surgeon and long-term partner of former Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, as part of an ongoing investigation.
Search Operation Underway
Officers, including forensic specialists, arrived at Adib's beachfront unit on the Gold Coast on Thursday. Witnesses observed multiple police vehicles outside the Norfolk building while investigators carried out a detailed examination of the luxury apartment, including the balcony area. At one point, officers were seen inspecting a barbecue.
Police have not laid any charges and have not disclosed the nature of the investigation. Authorities have stressed that Palaszczuk is not believed to be involved, and she may not even have any knowledge of the raid.
Forensic Evidence Collected
Forensic officers were seen examining items on the apartment balcony, and detectives and forensic officers later left the building carrying seized items. The search operation involved careful scrutiny of the property.
The development comes as Palaszczuk undertakes a national publicity campaign for her memoir, Finding My Way, which was launched earlier this week. She is scheduled to host a promotional event on the Gold Coast on Thursday evening.
Palaszczuk's Comments on Relationship
Speaking earlier in the week, Palaszczuk discussed her relationship with Adib during media appearances linked to the book's release. When asked whether she planned to marry her partner and if marriage was on the cards, she replied: “Ha! We’re very happy … why would we, why would we change it? We’re very happy … thank you.”

Queensland Police have not provided further details, citing the active nature of the investigation. The search operation at the Burleigh Heads apartment has concluded for now, but authorities have indicated that inquiries are ongoing.
