Man Charged After Berkeley Crash, Two Flee Scene

A man has been charged following a single-vehicle crash in Berkeley, where two occupants allegedly abandoned the scene, leaving a third person trapped inside the wrecked car.

Details of the Incident

The crash occurred on Barnes Street, with emergency services called around 5:30 am on Friday, May 1. According to a NSW Police spokeswoman, a sedan collided with a tree, and two occupants fled before police arrived.

The remaining occupant, a 22-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Wollongong Hospital under police guard. He was later released from the hospital around 11:30 am the same day and charged on an outstanding warrant for driving and judicial offences.

He was also charged with breach of bail. The man was refused bail and appeared in Bail Division Court on May 2. Investigations are ongoing.
