Dramatic Police Pursuit Ends With Multiple Arrests
Seven teenagers are facing serious charges following a wild police chase that spanned approximately 60 kilometres across Queensland on Friday night. The dramatic pursuit involved three allegedly stolen vehicles and required multiple police resources to bring under control.
Queensland Police first identified a black Land Rover, reported stolen from Coomera on November 19, just before 9:30pm. The Polair helicopter quickly began tracking the vehicle as it travelled along the Ipswich Motorway at Darra heading towards Goodna.
Convoy of Stolen Vehicles
Police soon discovered the Land Rover wasn't travelling alone. Officers observed the vehicle moving in convoy with two other allegedly stolen cars: a black Mercedes sedan and a silver Toyota Kluger. Both additional vehicles had been reported stolen from Carindale in Brisbane earlier that same day.
The three vehicles maintained their formation as they continued their journey, with police monitoring from the air and coordinating ground response. The pursuit continued for roughly 60 kilometres before officers successfully deployed tyre spikes to disable the vehicles.
Foot Chase and Arrests
The intervention took a dramatic turn when the Mercedes came to a stop on Duncan Street in Redbank Plains. According to police reports, the teenagers inside fled the disabled vehicle and climbed into the Land Rover to continue their escape attempt.
The Land Rover continued briefly before being abandoned on Kruger Parade, where six teenagers fled on foot. A police dog squad was deployed and successfully tracked the suspects, leading to their arrest nearby.
A 14-year-old girl faces the most serious charges, including five counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, plus single counts of obstructing police, fraud, and wilful damage. She is scheduled to appear in Ipswich Childrens Court on December 8.
A 15-year-old boy received three charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, along with one count each of obstructing police and fraud. Another 15-year-old boy faces charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and trespass. Both are due in Ipswich Childrens Court on Thursday.
A 16-year-old boy was charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and single counts of obstructing police, fraud, stealing, and burglary. His court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday at Ipswich Childrens Court.
A 16-year-old girl received a notice to appear for unlawful use of a motor vehicle, with her court date set for December 15.
An 18-year-old man faces one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on January 7.
Police later located the stolen Toyota Kluger in Case Street at Southport on the Gold Coast. A 14-year-old boy was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle in connection with this discovery and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Queensland Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing and are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
