New South Wales Police have thwarted an alleged planned murder near a daycare centre in Revesby, Sydney's south-west, arresting three men on Tuesday afternoon. The suspects, aged 18, 19, and 26, have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and participating in a criminal group.
Tactical officers intercepted two cars on The River Road around 3:50 pm, using non-lethal rounds to stop the vehicles. Police seized two firearms, balaclavas, body-worn cameras, and jerry cans of fuel during searches. The alleged target was reportedly in the vicinity at the time of the arrests.
NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Scott Cook stated the men were acting on behalf of a transnational organised crime network and came close to carrying out the killing. He noted the intended hit was linked to a daycare centre, though the exact location remains unclear.
Detective Superintendent Peter Faux of the Organised Crime Squad said officers prevented a murder and protected innocent bystanders. He confirmed the arrests were part of a broader investigation into multiple conspiracy-to-murder cases within the syndicate.
Two of the accused, Greall Tighe, 18, and Tyrone Tuiluga Rio, 26, appeared at Bankstown Local Court and did not apply for bail. The third man, Kevin Mundine, 19, is also facing charges. Police continue to execute search warrants in south-west Sydney.
