Man Faces Court Over Alleged Stabbing of Teenager on Gold Coast

A 33-year-old man has been charged in connection with the alleged stabbing of a 17-year-old teenager on the Gold Coast, in an incident that left the victim in critical condition after a confrontation at his front door.

Details of the Alleged Attack

The incident occurred on November 6, 2025, at approximately 7:30 PM at a residence on Batchworth Rd in Molendinar. According to police reports, the 17-year-old victim, who resides in the Carrara suburb, answered the door to two men dressed in black. It is alleged that one of the men stabbed the teenager in the chest, with the blade striking just centimetres from his heart, resulting in serious injuries.

Detective Inspector Mark Mooney has stated that the men were reportedly seeking the teenager over a debt-related matter. At the time of the attack, it is understood that four children were inside the home, adding to the severity of the situation.

The vehicle was later spotted on Cotlew St in Ashmore around 8:50 PM and was found abandoned at a business on Marine Parade in Labrador by approximately 9:15 PM.

After extensive investigations by detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch, a 33-year-old man from Molendinar was arrested. Arrest vision released by Queensland Police shows officers handcuffing the man on a balcony, with police heard saying, "Get on the ground. Hands behind. You're under arrest. You have a warrant for your arrest, mate."

Charges and Legal Proceedings

The man has been charged with one count of acts intended to maim, disfigure, or disable. He was scheduled to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday, with investigations into the incident remaining ongoing.

Victim's Condition and Aftermath

The 17-year-old victim was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery, after which he was placed in a coma. His condition has since stabilised, but the attack has raised concerns about community safety and debt-related violence in the area.

This case highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address violent crimes on the Gold Coast, with police urging anyone with further information to come forward as the investigation continues.
