A tragic accident in Victoria's northeast has claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy and left two other teenagers with life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred when the vehicle they were traveling in, believed to have been stolen, collided with a tree.
Details of the Crash
The crash took place on the Calder Highway near Woosang-Yeungroon Road, approximately 250 kilometers northeast of Melbourne, shortly before 10am on Saturday. Police reported that the car was traveling along the highway when it veered off and struck a tree.
Victims and Injuries
The driver, an 18-year-old, and one of the passengers, also 14, sustained life-threatening injuries and were airlifted to hospital. The other 14-year-old passenger, a boy from Mildura, was declared dead at the scene.
Alleged Stolen Vehicle
Investigators believe the car involved in the crash was allegedly stolen from an address in Mildura the night before the incident. The Calder Highway remains closed as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
