Man charged with 59 offences including child sex abuse

A Dawesville man has been hit with a staggering 59 criminal charges, including 38 counts related to the sexual abuse of children, after a major investigation by Mandurah detectives.

Alleged Grooming and Abuse Spanning Years

Jackson Robert Brennan, 34, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court last Wednesday to face a portion of the extensive allegations against him. The court, located at 501 Hay Street within the Central Law Courts building, heard that Brennan is accused of using text messages and social media applications to target young girls, some as young as 12 years old.

Police allege the offences occurred over a significant period, between 2022 and 2025. The accused is said to have built trust with his victims online before luring them to meet in person, where he then allegedly sexually assaulted them.

A Detailed List of Serious Charges

The 59 charges paint a picture of systematic predatory behaviour. Among the 38 child sexual abuse charges are counts of sexually penetrating and indecently dealing with girls aged between 13 and 15.

Brennan also faces charges for persistently sexually abusing children under 16 and for indecently recording one of his victims. Further allegations include possessing child exploitation material and a series of charges related to the grooming and attempted procurement of children for sexual activity, with some offences involving girls believed to be under the age of 13.

In addition to the sexual abuse charges, the 34-year-old is facing serious drug and weapons charges. These include offering to sell or supply prohibited drugs like cannabis, carrying prohibited weapons, and committing an armed robbery.

Court Appearances and Police Appeal

During his recent court appearance, Brennan faced 24 of the 59 charges. These included multiple counts of using electronic communication to procure a person under 16 for sexual activity, two counts of using electronic communication to expose a child to indecent matter, one count of indecently dealing with a child over 13 and under 16, and six drug charges.

Appearing from Casuarina Prison, Brennan was remanded in custody by Magistrate Catherine Crawford. He is scheduled to reappear in court on February 11. A separate court date has been set for December 5, where he will face other charges from the total of 59.
