A married Australian couple from Mandurah, Western Australia, is reeling after becoming the nation's latest multi-millionaires, scoring a staggering $50 million in last week's Powerball draw.
The millennial pair, who wish to remain private, confessed they are still in a state of disbelief following the life-changing windfall from Powerball draw 1539.
From Ordinary to Extraordinary Overnight
The couple held the only division one winning entry in the entire country, a Slikpik 18 ticket they purchased online via Lotterywest. This monumental win marks the most lucrative Powerball prize in Western Australia in more than three years and is the state's fourth division one win for 2025.
"We are in total shock," the husband admitted. "I only play every now and again; this kind of thing doesn't happen to normal people like us."
Plans for a New, Yet Familiar, Life
Despite the sudden influx of wealth, the couple insists their day-to-day lives won't be uprooted immediately. Their plans are refreshingly down-to-earth, focusing on family and home comforts rather than extravagant luxuries.
"We love where we live so we don't want to move," the husband shared, "but we'll probably get some new gutters and install ceiling fans around the house as well."
His wife hinted at a small, immediate celebration, suggesting she might upgrade from her usual chicken parmy to a steak on their next visit to the local pub.
The most significant change, however, will be in their family dynamic. The husband has always dreamed of being a present father and now has the means to make it a reality.
"I've always dreamed of being a stay-at-home dad and I can't wait to make that a reality," he said. "Life with a toddler is very busy, so to be able to slow down and spend more quality time together will be very special."
