A dramatic cliff rescue unfolded on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula on Tuesday morning after a teenage boy fell several metres down a rocky face.
Dramatic Rescue Operation at Diamond Bay
The incident occurred at the scenic but hazardous Diamond Bay in Sorrento at approximately 10.25am on Tuesday. Emergency services were called to the scene after reports the boy had fallen an estimated three metres down the cliff face.
A complex multi-agency response was launched. While several emergency service members coordinated from the top of the cliff, a specialist paramedic was winched down to the injured teenager to provide immediate medical care. The exact cause of the fall remains unclear.
Air Ambulance Airlift to Hospital
The rescue reached its critical phase around 12.30pm. The paramedic and the teenager were both winched up into a waiting Air Ambulance helicopter. The aircraft then transported the boy directly to hospital for further treatment.
Authorities confirmed the teenager sustained a non-life-threatening leg injury during the fall. The successful outcome highlighted the coordinated efforts of the paramedic and rescue teams on site.
