A Newcastle mother, identified as 47-year-old Rebecca McIntyre, has been allegedly murdered by her son in a tragic domestic violence case. Rebecca was discovered with multiple stab wounds to her face and body inside her residence on Merrigum Street in Windale at approximately 8 p.m. on Friday evening.
Son Charged with Murder After Alleged Attack
Her son, 25-year-old Blaise McIntyre, is now in custody and has been formally charged with murder, specifically categorized as a domestic violence offense. According to police reports, Blaise was escorted from the family home with his hands and arms bagged for forensic analysis. Authorities state that Blaise allegedly called triple-0 himself following the incident.
New South Wales Police Superintendent Tracy Chapman described the weapon used in the deadly alleged attack as a household knife, which has been seized for forensic testing. Blaise was arrested outside the Windale property before officers located Rebecca's body during a thorough search of the home. Despite the efforts of paramedics, she could not be saved.
Neighbours and Family React to the Tragedy
Neighbours expressed devastation over the events, with one recalling hearing distressing cries during the incident, including pleas such as, "please stop, get off me." The neighbour noted that Rebecca was typically quiet, making the situation even more shocking. Police have confirmed there was no known history of violence between the mother and son, and Blaise had no significant criminal record prior to this incident.
