Suspended Driver Allegedly Caught at 171kph, Drunk with Children in Car

A 40-year-old Craigieburn man is expected to face multiple charges after allegedly being caught speeding at 171 kilometers per hour in a 110kph zone while drunk and with four children in the car. Victoria Police said officers stopped the man on the Western Highway near Bacchus Marsh just before midnight on Good Friday.

Police allege the driver, whose license was already suspended, returned a blood alcohol reading of .107, more than double the legal limit of .05. The car was also overloaded with five passengers, including the four children. The man's vehicle was impounded, and he will face court on driving-related charges at a later date.

The incident occurred during Operation Nexus, a police operation targeting dangerous driving over the Easter weekend. Officers have already caught several speeding drivers, including one clocked at 126kph in a 60kph zone at Point Cook on Friday night.
