Ingredients
- 500 grams Lamb Kafta Fingers or Finely Minced Lamb Mince
- 1-2 teaspoons Cumin Seeds
- 1-2 tablespoons Curry Powder
- 1 Stalk Curry Leaves
- 1-2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
- 1 tablespoon Vegetable Oil (any neutral oil)
- 1 Handful Black Sesame Seeds
- 1-2 Sheets of Puff Pastry
- 2 Eggs
- 1/4 Cup Milk
- Sea Salt for seasoning
- Baking paper
Method
- In a shallow frying pan, add the oil and a pinch of sea salt. Once heated, add the cumin seeds, curry leaves, and curry powder. Stir continuously while removing from heat.
- In a large bowl, mix the Lamb Kafta meat with the cumin and curry powder mixture, along with a good pinch of sea salt.
- Beat the egg and milk in a bowl, or use just egg yolks for an extra golden colour to brush the sausage rolls.
- Lay out the two sheets of puff pastry on two sheets of baking paper.
- Evenly divide the lamb mixture between the two sheets of puff pastry. Shape into logs and fold over the ends to form two long logs.
- Brush first with the egg and milk mixture, then evenly sprinkle over the black sesame seeds.
- Place in the fridge for a few minutes to ensure a cleaner cut when dividing the sausage rolls.
- Cut out equal-sized sausage rolls and transfer two each onto clean baking paper, ready for cooking.
- Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius or a Ninja AirFryer to 200 degrees on Airfry for 3 minutes.
- Place your sausage rolls on the baking sheets into the oven for 20-25 minutes, or in the AirFryer cook on Airfry at 200 degrees for about 15 minutes, checking halfway. Cook for an extra 2-3 minutes if needed, depending on the thickness of the meat.
This recipe not only offers a quick and tasty meal but also champions Australian farmers by utilising locally sourced ingredients. Perfect for busy families seeking a wholesome and flavourful dish.
