Top 5 Favourite Buys This Month: Hair to Handbags

As we approach the halfway mark of the year, things are speeding up even more. Amid a busy month, some key investments have stood out, particularly with a trip to the UK and a hopeful 'Euro summer' on the horizon.

Kerasilk Straightening Treatment: A Game-Changer for Frizzy Hair

My favourite investment this month has been the Kerasilk Straightening Treatment, which transformed my frizzy hair from unmanageable to distinctly easier to treat. I tried it at The Mane Space Salon in Manly. This long-lasting service promises to transform unmanageable, curly, wavy or frizzy hair into luxurious, smooth versions for up to five months. It uses a proprietary Biometric Silk and vegan protein formula with heat-activated KeraShape Technology to restructure hair, reduce frizz, and cut blow-dry time. For thick hair, the process took about five hours, but the results are revolutionary. Now, I can rough dry my hair and expect it to look smooth and styled. I’ve been recommending it to everyone with frizzy or curly hair and plan to get a top-up before summer.

Other Experiences and Upcoming Events

Body By Berner’s new Darlinghurst studio in Sydney features a seven-metre architectural sculpture from recycled PET using 3D printing, with classes led by founder Bernadette Sukkar. HOKA’s new flagship store on Pitt Street in Sydney opens June 27, combining sports physiotherapy, gait analysis, and performance testing with footwear fitting. I’ve also signed up for the Real Insurance Harbour 10 run, a 10km race with an afterparty at Cruise Bar, as part of my Sydney Marathon training.

Kathmandu Hiking XT Range: Technical Outdoor Gear

Kathmandu has launched its most technical hiking range, built on nearly four decades of experience. The range includes two ISPO Award-winning products. My favourite piece is the Women’s XT Series Cordura LT Down Hooded Jacket ($549.98), which is lightweight, comfortable, and warm without bulk. It’s easy to pack for cold destinations. I’ll be testing it in the Blue Mountains soon.

Other health and fitness buys include Foraged For You Mother’s Blend ($94), a supplement for pregnancy and postpartum, and We Are Feel Good Sunscreen Good Sport ($34.95), which is easy to apply and absorbs quickly.

FlexiSuit One-Size Onesie: Reducing Textile Waste

The FlexiSuit is a one-size-fits-all baby onesie designed to last from newborn to two years old, using patented expandable fabric technology. Made from 96% organic cotton and 4% elastane, it costs $49.95 and reduces the need to buy up to 80 onesies that often end up in landfill. Founder Melinda Farley said, 'I realised how few products exist in the baby industry that actively help tackle textile waste. As a mum of four, I know firsthand how high textile waste is during those baby-to-toddler years.' I tried it on my 18-month-old daughter, and it works well.

Other kids’ buys include Jellycat’s Kelli Pelican ($155.99) and Beetl Skincare’s Baby’s First Bath Set ($79.99), which includes a gentle cleanser and cream suitable for sensitive skin.

Tom Ford Soleil Bronzing Powder: A Second-Skin Finish

Tom Ford’s Soleil Bronzing Powder ($100) is a buildable, soft matte bronzer that melts into skin. It offers a cashmere-soft finish and comes in four shades. Other beauty favourites include Dolce & Gabbana Ever Icon Eye Palette ($110), Prime Skin Drink Up ($44) – a 3-in-1 moisturiser, barrier treatment, and primer – and MUK Texture Spray ($33.95), a 4-in-1 styling product for texturising, volumising, prepping, and refreshing hair.

Maison De Sabre Soft Trio Bag: Personalisable Luxury

Maison De Sabre’s Soft Trio Bag ($559) is part of the Trio Collection, an accessory system with one crossbody bag and three interchangeable carry partners, offering over 720 styling combinations. I got it in red and find it practical for day use. Other accessories include Mum Club Caps and Meshki Paige Cropped Leather Jacket ($239), which combines utility detailing with a modern silhouette.
