Concrush Slashes Construction Costs and Waste with Recycling Services

Concrush, a recycling facility based in Teralba, Lake Macquarie, is helping contractors, builders, and renovators reduce costs and environmental impact by transforming construction and demolition waste into valuable materials. The company has been operating for over 20 years, processing thousands of tonnes of waste annually from residential and commercial sites.

Managing director Kevin Thompson, who co-founded Concrush in 2002 with Tony Conaghan, said the business was born from a need for recycling in the region. 'Traditionally, concrete and bricks ended up in landfill. We knew there had to be a better way,' Thompson said. The facility re-purposes materials like asphalt, bricks, concrete, and green waste into affordable, sustainable products.

Concrete waste is crushed into aggregates and road-base materials for new construction projects, while green waste such as timber and branches is turned into mulch for landscaping. These recycled products reduce demand for virgin natural resources and offer cost-effective alternatives for buyers.
