Clothing isn't the only thing we're layering this winter — we're busy stacking jewellery too. Think multiple lobe studs and hoops, layered necklaces, and bracelets worn together. This season, we're trading minimal jewels for something a little more maximal: the stacked jewellery trend.
Rings are part of the movement too. Rather than a single statement piece, rings are now worn across multiple fingers, layered with stacked bands.
While stacking continues to gain momentum, brands like MEJURI have been long creating with the trend in mind.
MEJURI's Puzzle Collection
"Stacking has always been a huge part of MEJURI's identity," says Noura Sakkijha, Co-Founder and CEO of MEJURI. Home to both everyday pieces and statement stones, the Canadian-founded brand has launched its new Puzzle collection — a range of rings and sliding charms designed to be personalised and worn together.
"A few years ago we realised something interesting: while we were known for stacking, many of our rings weren't actually designed to interact with each other in a new or unexpected way," explains Noura. Hence the new Puzzle Stacked Collection, designed to be worn stacked together, sitting neatly one above the other.
"The silhouette is architectural and graphic, but softened through rounded edges and stones placed at unexpected angles. It feels distinctive while still being easy to wear every day."
Self-Expression Through Stacking
Noura explains that stacking has long been a form of self-expression. "People are building collections that represent who they are, the people they love, and the moments they want to remember. We wanted to create a system that made that feel more personal, more playful, and more design-forward."
The Puzzle charms and rings are available in sterling silver or 18k gold vermeil, with all twelve birthstones available.
Noura's favourite piece is the Amethyst Puzzle Ring, $198. "February has always been a meaningful month in my life. It's the month my twins were born, and it's also the month we closed our Series B. Two completely different milestones, but both life-changing in their own way."
Choosing a birthstone doesn't have to correlate with your own; it can simply mark a special date or memory.
Getting Started with Stacking
If you're new to the stacking trend, Noura suggests starting with the Bold Puzzle Ring, $198 in gold, saying "it really captures the architectural design language of the collection." From there, consider adding a sterling silver Puzzle Ring for mixed-metal contrast, then a birthstone piece to make it personal.
But don't be fooled. Noura says to never "consider it finished." "The beauty of Puzzle is that it's designed to grow with you. There's always room for another memory, another milestone, another chapter of your story."
Rather than focusing on a perfectly curated stack, Noura says to "pick one piece that you naturally reach for every day, whether it's a birthstone, a gift, or simply a piece you love, and build around that." And don't be afraid to mix metals. Combining silver and gold is another top trend for the season.
"Mix different widths, shapes, metals, or stones. Some of the most beautiful stacks combine something delicate with something sculptural."
Whether you're adding to an existing stack or just getting started, MEJURI's Puzzle collection is the perfect place to start.
