A dramatic police pursuit through Western Sydney has culminated in a serious crash, leaving a driver under guard in hospital and another motorist injured.
High-Speed Pursuit on the M4
The incident began on Friday night, just before 9pm, when highway patrol officers spotted a vehicle believed to be stolen travelling on the M4 Motorway. Police attempted to pull the car over, but the driver, a 28-year-old man, allegedly refused to stop, triggering a chase.
Terminated Pursuit and Subsequent Crash
The pursuit continued until it was terminated by police on Reservoir Rd in Blacktown. However, the drama was far from over. A short time later, the allegedly stolen vehicle collided with another car further along the same road.
Emergency services rushed to the scene to find the 28-year-old driver trapped in the wreckage. He was eventually freed by rescue crews and transported to hospital with what were described as minor injuries.
Two Drivers Hospitalised, Investigation Ongoing
The driver of the second vehicle, a 25-year-old man, was also treated for minor injuries at the scene before being taken to hospital for further assessment.
No charges have been laid at this stage, but the 28-year-old man remains under police guard while receiving medical treatment. A comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of the crash and the earlier pursuit is now being conducted by New South Wales Police.
The events have left a section of Reservoir Rd as a scene of investigation, reminding motorists of the dangers associated with police pursuits and reckless driving on Sydney's roads.
