A Canberra motorcyclist has had his bike seized and is set to face court after police allege he was caught riding at dangerously high speeds on a major road in the city's north.
Alleged High-Speed Ride in Scullin
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, December 30, 2025. According to ACT Policing, officers on mobile patrols allegedly observed a black motorcycle travelling westbound on Southern Cross Drive towards Kingsford Smith Drive in Scullin at a significant speed.
Police claim the rider, a 24-year-old man from O'Connor, was not displaying registration plates. It is further alleged he was travelling at more than 120 kilometres per hour in an 80 km/h zone.
Vehicle Confiscated Under Hooning Laws
As the rider was allegedly travelling more than 45 km/h over the posted speed limit, police immediately exercised their powers to confiscate the vehicle. The black motorcycle was seized at the scene under anti-hooning legislation.
The man has been issued with a future court attendance notice and is scheduled to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date to answer to the allegations.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
ACT Policing have now put a call out to the public for any additional information regarding the incident. They are urging any witnesses, or anyone who may have dashcam or other footage from the Scullin area around the time of the alleged offence, to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers ACT via their website, quoting reference number 8259564.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the serious consequences for dangerous driving on Canberra's roads, with police continuing to target illegal hooning behaviour throughout the holiday period.
