A family outing at a popular park in Perth's northern suburbs turned into a frightening ordeal last week, after a young boy was allegedly threatened with a knife by a teenager on an electric bike.
Alleged Confrontation in Broad Daylight
The incident occurred at the Eglinton Adventure Park on the afternoon of Thursday, 23 May 2024. According to Western Australia Police, a 12-year-old boy was playing in the park when he was approached by an older youth riding an e-bike.
The teenage rider, believed to be aged between 15 and 16 years old, allegedly produced a knife and threatened the younger child. The confrontation was brief but terrifying for the victim, who was fortunately not physically injured during the encounter.
Police Launch Public Appeal for Information
Following the report, authorities from the Joondalup Police District have commenced a thorough investigation. They are treating the matter with seriousness and are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the event or has relevant information.
Police have released a description of the alleged offender. He is described as having a slim build and was wearing a distinctive black hooded jumper with the word 'Essentials' printed in white writing across the chest. He was riding a black electric bicycle at the time of the alleged threat.
Investigators are urging anyone who was in the Eglinton Adventure Park area around 4:30 pm on that Thursday, or who recognises the description of the teen, to come forward immediately.
