Hummer Crash Disrupts Water Supply North of Townsville

Residents in the Rollingstone area, north of Townsville, are bracing for potentially weeks of low water pressure after a dramatic vehicle crash severely damaged a critical water pipeline. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, November 8, 2025, near Rollingstone along the Bruce Highway.

Details of the Bruce Highway Incident

According to Queensland Police, they were called to the scene of a single-vehicle rollover involving a black Hummer. The vehicle reportedly left the highway, travelled down an embankment, and collided with the pipeline. Fortunately, both occupants of the Hummer emerged uninjured. The owner of the vehicle has since arranged for it to be towed from the site.

Council Response and Ongoing Repairs

Townsville City Council released a statement confirming the damage to the pipeline that feeds the Rollingstone reservoir. A council spokesman detailed the immediate response, stating, “Council crews have isolated the section of pipeline and bypassed water services to minimise disruption to residents while repairs are being undertaken.” While these measures are in place, the council has advised that low water pressure may be experienced in Rollingstone and surrounding areas as repair work continues over the coming weeks.
