Victoria has been struck by another heartbreaking fire tragedy, with a young child losing their life in a fierce house blaze in Melbourne's northern suburbs on Monday afternoon.
Emergency Response to Dorothy Street
Emergency services were called to a residential property on Dorothy Street in Fawkner, approximately 12 kilometres north of Melbourne's CBD, just after 2pm. The call came following reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews were confronted with a home that was already fully engulfed in flames.
Frantic Efforts to Save a Young Life
Despite the dangerous and intense conditions, firefighters worked to locate the occupants. A three-year-old child was retrieved from the burning building. Paramedics immediately commenced CPR on the toddler in a desperate attempt to save their life. Tragically, these efforts were unsuccessful, and the child was declared deceased at the scene.
An adult who also lived at the Fawkner address managed to escape the fire. They were treated at the scene for injuries and later transported to hospital. Authorities have stated the adult's injuries are not considered life-threatening.
