Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes has shared his delight at discovering a Mexican street food venue in Perth's northern suburbs ahead of his Saturday night concert at Sandalford Wines.
The 69-year-old singer, who performed in Bunbury on Thursday with The Jane Barnes Band, enjoyed a night off in Scarborough on Friday. Instead of dining in the bustling coastal precinct, Barnes found his meal at Taco Guru & Son, a taco kitchen hidden behind the Mane Liquor bottle shop on Scarborough Beach Road in Osborne Park.
“An interesting dinner find in Scarborough, Perth — at the back of a beer specialist shop there’s a taco kitchen,” Barnes captioned a social media post. “Carnitas with all sorts of chilli dressings and zero beer at Taco Guru & Son. Perfect on my night off.”
Staff at Taco Guru & Son expressed their excitement on social media, writing: “When legends support local 🙌 Huge thanks to Jimmy Barnes for dropping in for tacos (Still pinching ourselves😳) and sharing the love 🌮. Moments like this mean everything to a small family business.”
On Saturday afternoon, Barnes attended a soundcheck at the Swan Valley venue, telling fans “the sun is out and we’re ready to rock”. The concert is part of his Working Class Man 40th Anniversary Tour, with support acts including ICEHOUSE, Ian Moss, John Rooney, and Kate Ceberano.
Organisers have advised concertgoers to arrive early due to redevelopments on the Midland Line and the absence of shuttle buses from Guildford train station. The only shuttle option will be Buswest transfers to and from the venue, with bus passes available from the Buswest office in Cockburn on Saturday.
